Protected Species Surveys > Breeding Birds

< Previous Topic  |  Next Topic >

All British birds' nests and their eggs are protected from damage and destruction under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as amended. In addition, some birds have additional protection through their inclusion on Schedule One of the act which also make it illegal to disturb these birds whilst building a nest and /or whilst incubating their eggs and rearing their young. It Is therefore important that any development activities likely to affect nesting birds should be designed around the avoidance of adversely affecting breeding birds.

Greenwillows Associates highly experienced ornithologists have excellent bird identification skills and extensive knowledge of breeding bird survey techniques, and bird behavior including:
  • Vantage point flight line surveys for wind farm appraisals
  • Common Bird Census including territory mapping
  • Farmland bird surveys
Our services include the production of impact assessment reports and the preparation of mitigation strategies and management plans to reduce the impacts on and enhance the habitats for on site avifuana.
